Bishop’s Lodge, Santa Fe Opening: Spring 2021 Bishop’s Lodge in Santa Fe, the former residence of the Pulitzer family, was the grand dame of Southwest tourism. Unfortunately, it fell into disrepair over the last few years, closing in 2015. Six years later, it’s triumphantly opening under new management—Auberge Resorts—in the spring. From the sounds of it, its best days are still ahead. NoMad, London Opening: February 2021 The NoMad opens their first international property in London’s Covent Garden, right next to the Royal Opera House. It’s designed by Roman & Williams, an apropos choice for this Anglo-American venture: the duo restored and redecorated the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s British galleries. Housed in a former court and police station, the building’s history will inform its hospitality: jail cells, for example, are to be turned into (much grander) guest rooms. One&Only Portonovi, Montenegro Opening: March 2021 One&Only makes their European debut with the One&Only Portonovi, a sprawling, Venetian palace-style resort in Montenegro. It overlooks Boka Bay, a fjord-like idyll that feeds from the Adriatic sea. The property will feature an array of several sparkling pools, including one for families and another with a DJ for those seeking a more social experience.
Kalesma, Mykonos Opening: April 2021 Much of Mykonos has a strict Cycladic aesthetic: think white-washed walls, azure blue doors, and flat roofs. And while yes, Kalesma does abide by this traditional architecture, it also adds some sleek interior spice with Rick Owens furniture in the lobby. The owners, by the way, all grew up on the island—so those looking for insider tips to the island, look no further. Cheval Blanc, Paris Opening: 2021 The LVMH-owned Cheval Blanc is, as one would expect, only in most fabulous of Francophile destinations: St. Barth’s, Courchevel, St. Tropez! This spring, they open place that started it all: Paris. They have architect Peter Marino turning La Samaritaine, the former department store, into an Art Deco flagship filled with antique and fine French furniture. Perched on the edge of the Seine, the Cheval Blanc is sure to become a beloved icon in the city of lights.
