Sometimes we overestimate our abilities or underestimate the landscape, it happens. They probably didn’t charge you for the incident since it doesn’t sound like the rescue was very expensive. If they had to call in a helicopter or something it would probably be a different story. I’m guessing they rescue people off of that cliff fairly regularly.
